WHAT IS THE GOSPEL?

The gospel is the good news that Jesus Christ has come to save sinners.

You can begin to understand this by
reading the statements below.

God
The Bible explains that God created us; therefore, He has the right to absolute authority in our lives. He made us in His image so we would seek to honor Him as the true Creator. He alone is perfect. (Gen. 1:1; Acts 17:24-27)

Man
Instead of seeking God, we rebel against God's authority and choose to live our own way. The Bible says failure to submit to God's authority is sin. The penalty for our sin is spiritual death, eternal separation from God in Hell. We rightly deserve this judgment for failing to honor our Creator. (Ps. 14:2-3; Heb. 9:27; Rom. 3:19, 23; Rom. 6:23)

Christ
God's great love and mercy offers forgiveness to us as sinners. God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the Cross for us and pay the penalty for our sin. In His death, Jesus endured the punishment we deserve and therefore satisfied the justice of God, making it possible for us to be restored to fellowship with Him. Christ then rose from the dead, proving His power over sin and death. (Jn. 17:3; Rom. 3:24; Rom. 5:6, 8-9; Phil. 2:8-9; 1 Cor. 15:1-4)

Response
God commands us to repent of our rebellion against Him and trust only in Jesus' death to pay the penalty for our sin. If we do, we will enjoy being with God for all eternity in Heaven. Refusal to trust in Jesus alone condemns us to Hell for all eternity. (Jn. 3:36; Acts 17:30; Rom. 4:5; Eph. 2:8-9; Rev. 20:11-15)
